Chinese Smart City Solution Launched in Sydney: First Digital Park Officially Opens

Sydney’s first digital park has recently opened to the public, driven by innovative digital technologies. The project deeply integrates multiple cutting-edge Chinese smart city solutions, marking a substantive achievement in digital cooperation between China and Australia and providing a reference model for global smart city development.

The core of this collaboration is the successful application of a comprehensive smart campus management system to a large public space. This system originates from mature smart industrial park solutions and incorporates the robust capabilities of a smart city AI platform. Through the deployment of intelligent facility management and smart building AI solutions, the park achieves real-time and precise control over energy, lighting, security, and the environment. More importantly, the project constructs a miniature version of an urban digital management system, with its backend AI-based city operations center capable of making dynamic decisions based on IoT data streams.

A highlight of the park is the application of digital twin for smart city technology. This virtual mapping platform not only achieves full digitalization of the physical park, allowing managers to conduct simulations and optimize planning, but also provides visitors with interactive guides and educational information overlaid onto the real-world view through an AR interface, creating an immersive mixed-reality experience.

The project’s success benefits from long-term China-Australia cooperation mechanisms. Since 2017, the China-Australia Electronic Information Technology Innovation Center has continuously facilitated technological exchanges between the two sides. Chinese partners, particularly technology companies from Shenzhen, have closely integrated the smart city AI platform, validated in large-scale urban applications, with local needs, ensuring the solution’s reliability and innovation.

The launch of Sydney’s Digital Park demonstrates that technological cooperation aimed at solving practical problems and improving citizens’ quality of life can transcend geographical and perceptual differences. It is not only a showcase of cutting-edge technology but also a vivid demonstration of how future urban digital management systems can operate, contributing a practical “China-Australia solution” to global smart city development.
